Bio
Martin Kollár (1971, Zilina, Slovacchia), ha studiato presso l’Accademia delle Arti dello Spettacolo di Bratislava, in Slovacchia. Da quando si è laureato, lavora come fotografo e direttore della fotografia freelance. Ha ricevuto numerose borse di studio e premi, tra cui il Prix Elysée e il Premio Oskar Barnack. Il suo lavoro è stato esposto in sedi internazionali, tra cui il Brooklyn Museum di New York (Stati Uniti), la Galleria Nazionale Slovacca di Bratislava (Slovacchia), il Martin-Gropius-Bau di Berlino (Germania), il Museo d’arte di Tel Aviv (Israele) e il Musée de l’Elysée di Losanna (Svizzera). Tra i volumi pubblicati figurano After (Mack, 2021), Provisional Arrangement (Mack / Musée de l’Elysée, 2016), Catalogue (Slovak National Gallery, 2015), Field Trip (Mack, 2013), Cahier (Diaphane, 2011) e Nothing Special (Actes-Sud, 2008). Come direttore della fotografia, Kollár ha lavorato a numerosi film, tra cui Cenzorka/107 Morhers (2021) Koza (2015), Velvet Terrorists (2013), Cooking History (2009), 66 Seasons (2003) e altri. Ha esordito alla regia con il film 5th October (2016).
Martin Kollár (1971, Zilina, Slovak Republic) studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Slovak Republic. He has been working as a freelance photographer and cinematographer since he graduated. He has received several grants and awards, including the Prix Elysée and the Oskar Barnack Award. His work has been exhibited across the world, including at the Brooklyn Museum in New York (USA), the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava, the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin, (Germany), the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (Israel) and the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne (Switzerland). His previous books include “After” (Mack, 2021), “Provisional Arrangement” (Mack / Musée de l’Elysée, 2016), “Catalogue” (Slovak National Gallery, 2015), “Field Trip” (Mack, 2013), “Cahier” (Diaphane, 2011) and “Nothing Special” (Actes-Sud, 2008). As a cinematographer, Kollar has worked on a number of films, including “Cenzorka/107 Morhers” (2021), “Koza” (2015), “Velvet Terrorists” (2013), “Cooking History” (2009), “66 Seasons” (2003), and others. He made his directorial feature debut with the film “5th October” (2016).
